At times it is important to focus on current life situations and stressors and to work with behavioral strategies to help make changes in your life.  At other points, it is important to identify negative thought patterns and focus on modifying these thoughts to alleviate distress.   Many people need to learn new skills and new ways of interacting to improve their current lives.  There are some times when it is helpful to understand how present difficulties are related to past situations and experiences.  Dr. Batterman will work with you to sort through the influences on your current life, and will help you find ways of understanding and coping with your feelings and situations.
Dr. Batterman has extensive experience with more significant psychiatric difficulties and is comfortable dealing with serious and debilitating symptoms.  As necessary, she will work with you, your support system, and your treatment team to help you manage difficult symptoms in an atmosphere of caring and hope.
